ChangelogPilot turns merged GitHub PRs into a customer-ready changelog, usually in under a minute. Connect a repo, we draft the entry, you approve it and publish.

Why I built it

For six years I was CTO at a sales-analytics startup, and we always struggled to tell customers how the product was evolving. Something more urgent than writing the update always won, so the update didn't get written. That was a mistake. Communicating what you've shipped is part of the product: every improvement a customer actually hears about compounds their faith in you, and a simple "this is new" can pull back someone who was drifting toward the exit and turn them into a promoter. The problem was never caring — it was that turning "here's what merged" into something a customer would read took time nobody had, and until recently there was no good shortcut.

I didn't want a nicer editor. I wanted the writing gone. ChangelogPilot reads your merged PRs and drafts the entry for you, in plain English, categorised by what kind of change it is. Your job is to review a draft, not to write one from a blank page.

Who it's for

Small SaaS and developer-tool teams — roughly two to twenty people — who ship continuously on GitHub and don't have anyone whose job is to translate git history into customer updates. If that's you, this is built for your Friday afternoon, not for a marketing department's content calendar.

Who it's not for

If you need SSO, procurement, custom contracts, or a formal multi-stage approval workflow before anything gets published, we're not the right fit — and that's fine.

How the company runs

ChangelogPilot is built by a small team in New Zealand, bootstrapped by choice. I believe in small software teams: software is a craft, not a factory, and it doesn't have to hyperscale to be worth building. Staying bootstrapped keeps the features focused and the decisions intentional.

A lot of the day-to-day work here — code, copy, triage — runs through AI agents that I direct. I'd rather you knew that than assumed otherwise; I'd also rather you didn't mistake it for a product thrown together by a prompt. It's built on 25-plus years of engineering practice, across tech-consulting leadership and startups, with real review and testing discipline. I set the direction and make the calls that need judgment; the agents handle a lot of the execution under it.
